When my door shift came to an end, I looked for Rick. I would not miss a chance to mock him because of that dragon-print outfit.

But, when I found him, serving a drink to one of the guests, I realized that — by the way they were talking — the best option would be not to interrupt the “mood”.

I would not be “a third wheel”.

I followed his example and walked down the hall, talking to some men. I handed out some cards — from my “office” — and I found some guys who had vanished from my list.

In this sort of events, nothing happened very explicitly. Like prostitution in Márcia’s modeling agency, things worked on the background. No one would say, "Why did you stop dating me?”, instead they would tell “Long time no see... We should see each other”.

These suited men hired luxury escorts precisely because they did not want them to look like call-girls. They wanted not only the most beautiful women on the market, but also total discretion.

After “socializing” for quite some time, I walked outside, in need of some fresh air.

I got near the balcony and rested my hands on the metal. I diverted my eyes to the black sky, brightened by the full moon and the constellations. The craziest part of stargazing is that we realize how insignificant we are in the universe. We are just a simple a grain of sand in the universe.

— You manage to look beautiful even wearing that awful dress — that familiar voice said, approaching me from behind.

I knew exactly who that person was, even without turning myself to look at him.

— That horrible dress is from your clothing brand — I replied, staring at the buildings across the street.

— I'm just one of the partners, my friend, that guy who came with me, he is actually the CEO — Erick said, now closer to me. He stopped by my side and, without looking at him, I could already feel his eyes on me.

— I ... I need to get back inside — I told him, finally staring at him. — Enjoy the party... You are the one paying for it.

He grabbed my arm, stopping me from rejoining the hall.

That made me stare at those green eyes, loathing myself for not being able to let them go, as I would certainly have done if he were some normal customer.

— My name is Erick Felipe Marinho and I’m the CEO, which means executive director, of Wallver industries — he remarked, still squeezing my wrist. Before I could say that I knew exactly what a CEO was, and that I did not understand what he was saying to me, Marinho proceeded: — I'm an only child and I’m married, but I think you already knew about the married thing.

With the "I’m an only child and I’m married", I understood what he was doing. This was the way that Erick Marinho found to apologize for what had happened during our last meeting. I particularly hated it.
